JUAN PABLO SIERRA
Juan Pablo Sierra is an artist born in Medellin, Colombia and raised in Miami, Florida. His work focuses on the exploration of concepts pertaining to identity, sprituality and autobiographical episodes. In his practice, he synthesizes both figuration and
abstraction, creating surreal and visually dynamic compositions. His intention is to illustrate images charged with emotion, and thus, materialize the intangible. His preferred methods are painting, drawing and printmaking. He has a Bachelor of Fine
Arts degree from the University of South Florida, where he graduated in May of 2019. Juan’s work has been exhibited in galleries around the state and has garnered various awards and recognitions. In 2018 he received a scholarship to attend the prestigious Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina.
“I like to think of my creative process as control amongst the chaos. Ideas are constantly traveling and developing in my mind as inspiration comes from many different places. As a young artist, I like to think that I am only scratching the surface in terms of exploring and finding my own voice and identity.”
